The athlete turned nerd

Troy Barnes is one of the heroes of the series Community telling the adventures of a study group in a community college. The group is made up of many different people including a stay-at-home mom, a crooked lawyer and a rich retiree. Troy was an athlete in high school but lost his scholarship to a prestigious university after an injury. He finds himself in this university without really knowing what he wants to do with his life. In his early days in the Spanish study group, he became particularly close to Abed, a film student who took him in on his passions for TV shows and the way he saw their lives as movies and episodes of the show. Later, he is approached by the principal of a plumbing school for his innate talents.
