Katniss The Mockingjay (The Hunger Games)

Katniss and her mockingjay dress

This is the fourth version of the Katniss character to exist in pop art. In the second movie, during the interviews before the beginning of the games, Katniss wears the dress she was supposed to wear at her wedding with Peeta. The dress is initially white but as in the first film, when Katniss turns, it catches fire and this time, it becomes bluish-black and large black wings appear to give Katniss the appearance of a mockingjay, the symbol of the emerging revolt. We find again this long dress with a simple shape of a deep blue color with lighter patterns. As in this famous scene, Katniss raises her arms and we can see, in her back, the blue-black wings spread. Funko has respected the detail of these wings with the few white feathers present. On the head, we find the same makeup as on the Katniss figure with her wedding dress but her earrings and the feathers on her head have become dark blue to match the dress.

Katniss becomes the mockingjay

Katniss Everdeen is the main character of the famous literary and cinematographic trilogy The Hunger Games”. The events take place in the relatively distant future in Panem, the location of what is now the United States. This country, ruled by an authoritarian government, the Capitol, is divided into 13 districts. Seventy-four years before the events of the book begin, the people tried to revolt but were defeated, District 13 was wiped off the map and the Hunger Games were set up by the Capitol to punish them. Every year, two young people between the ages of twelve and eighteen from each district are drawn and must fight to the death in an arena and only one is allowed to survive. Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark are going to be the ones chosen from district 12. Peeta has been in love with Katniss all his life and will do anything to ensure that she survives. Katniss, not feeling the same way but still getting closer to him, will, against all odds, make sure that they both survive. But this will not be done without triggering the anger of the Capitol and sowing the seeds of revolt. In the second film, the president of Panem will threaten Katniss and her family if she does not do everything to calm the revolt and convince the people that her love affair with Peeta was real and thus “distract” them. Despite her efforts, the revolt will continue to rumble and the president will not be convinced. He will then arrange with the rules so that Katniss and Peeta will be drawn again to participate in the next Hunger Games.
