The first inhabitants of Westeros
The children of the forest are the first inhabitants of Westeros in the Game Of Thrones series. When the first men landed from Valyria to conquer this new continent, those called the children of the forest for their small size and fairy-like appearance lived there in peace and were decimated. They were thought to be completely extinct until Bran Stark and Meera Reed encountered them during their search for the famous three-eyed raven. There they learned that in a desperate effort to survive, the children of the forest created the white walkers and soon lost control of them. Like all the other supernatural beings on the continent, the last of the forest children were pushed to the other side of the huge ice wall built in the north of the continent, and slowly forgotten.
