The fiercest dragon
Drogon is one of the three dragons in the Game Of Thrones series, adapted from A Song Of Ice And Fire, the medieval fantasy novels by George Martin. The action takes place on two continents. Most of the characters live on the continent of Westeros where the great families fight for power. Meanwhile, in the North, beyond the wall built to protect them from the savages who live there, a terrible threat is awakening. These great families, too busy fighting among themselves, turn a deaf ear to the pleas for help from the Night’s Watch, the order of soldiers who patrol beyond the wall. Across the sea, Daenerys Targaryen is trying to gather an army to regain her rightful power. Indeed, she is the last heir of the mad king Aerys Targaryen, ousted from power by an alliance of the great families of Westeros. At the end of season 1, the dragon eggs she was offered hatch and Daenerys proves that the race is not extinct and that the Targaryens have not all lost their powers. Drogon is one of the three dragons, named after her husband Drogo who died shortly before. As she grows up, Drogon will quickly become the largest and most uncontrollable of her dragons. At one point, she will even have to lock them up after one of them devours a child. But Drogon won’t let himself go and will disappear for a while. He’ll come back to save Daenerys when she’s attacked by the Sons Of The Harpy at the end of season 5, and for the first time, she’ll be able to control him and ride him, just like her ancestors did.
