Ragnar Lothbrok (Vikings)

The typical Viking warrior

Ragnar is represented in a warrior’s outfit, which is logical since it is the one he wears most often during the series and the most characteristic of the character. The creators of the figurine were most likely inspired by photos from season 2, especially in terms of his hairstyle. Like all Viking warriors, Ragnar wears a relatively light brown leather armor and matching boots to fight. As a sign of his power, he also wears golden metal cuffs. He is of course also shown with his signature weapon, an axe, as well as his characteristic blue shield. Finally, although Ragnar has always had his hair shaved on the side and long in the middle, this particular style is specific to season 2. Funko has not forgotten some details that allow to recognize the character, such as his beard or the slight rings under his eyes. We also find the wounds on his face, present on many promo photos of season 2.

From farmer to Viking king

Ragnar Lothbrok is the main character of the television series Vikings. Broadcast on the History Channel in the United States, this series is loosely based on the story of the legendary Viking chieftain Ragnar Lothbrok. At the beginning of the series, Ragnar is a Viking warrior living in the village of Kattegat with his wife Lagertha and children Bjorn and Gyda. When he is not on a raid, Ragnar is a simple farmer, but he has ambitions to become much more. The opportunity comes when he acquires a navigation device that will allow him to sail to England. With the help of his friend Floki, a drakkar builder, he organized a first raid in secret, without the knowledge of his Earl (the Viking’s home). He will bring back a lot of wealth and an English Christian monk, Athelstan, and thus begin his rise to power. In the series, the writers have chosen to give the character a rather sympathetic but detached personality. He is always ready to hug people, but we don’t always know what is behind the smile he always wears.
