Rhaegal (Game Of Thrones)

Rhaegal, the green dragon

Rhaegal is represented here during his first months of existence, when he is still a baby and small enough to simply rest on Daenerys’ shoulder and not yet very fierce. In terms of shape, he is exactly the same as the younger versions of the Drogon or Viserion figures. Rhaegal sits on his clawed hind legs, his long tail is pulled forward and his bat wings are partially spread on the side of his body. Scale patterns are nicely represented in places on his body. Of course, what differentiates Rhaegal from his brothers is his green color going towards beige on the wings. As for the head, Funko has deviated from the usual shape of the head of its figurines to be faithful to that of the dragon. We find the many spikes on the side and the top of his head. We can also see his dragon’s snout as well as his mouth slightly open to reveal his sharp teeth.

A dragon named after her brother

Rhaegal is one of Daenerys Targaryen’s three dragons in A Song Of Ice And Fire”, the novels by George Martin, and their television adaptation “Game Of Thrones”. The story of this series takes place on two continents. The majority of the characters evolve on the continent of Westeros where the great families fight for power and the throne while ignoring the growing threat of the White Walkers coming from the North despite the numerous warnings of the Night’s Watch. Across the sea, on the continent of Essos, Daenerys Targaryen seeks to gather an army large enough to take the road to Westeros and reclaim the throne that is rightfully hers, being the last heir of the mad king Aerys, ousted from power by an alliance of the great families of the continent. In season 1, Daenerys is married by her brother to Khal Drogo, a barbarian chieftain in exchange for his army. At her wedding, she is given three dragon eggs in honor of the Targaryen’s supposed powers to control dragons. The species being normally extinct, these eggs are supposed to be dead and only decorative objects. But when Daenerys’ husband dies, she places them on his funeral pyre and the heat causes them to hatch. Daenerys then finds herself the mother of three dragons. One is named Drogon in honor of her husband, the other Viserion for her brother and the last one Rhaegal for her other big brother she never knew.
