Sock Hop Betty Boop and Pudgy (Betty Boop)

Betty Boop in the 40’s

Betty Boop is represented here with a typical look of the 40’s, more particularly of the beginning during the second world war. Indeed, Betty Boop wears the style that young women wore during the balls organized by the American army to raise funds for the war effort at that time. She wears a full pink skirt reaching mid-calf with flat black and white shoes and ankle-length socks. On top, she wears a tight-fitting white blouse and a small pink scarf. At the level of the head we find her usual short black curls and her pink headband. Finally, she is accompanied by Pudgy holding a disc in her mouth.

A heroine of all times

Betty Boop is one of the most famous heroines of American animation. Created in the 1930s, she was the heroine of a series of cartoons between 1930 and 1939 at a rate of 12 episodes per year. But although her series was stopped, the character remained very popular and her image was often used until very recently. We found her in movies and comics. Each episode of Betty Boop featured her, sometimes in her usual context as a dancer and/or cabaret singer, sometimes in completely different scenarios, but often with a theme of romance or seduction. Her little white dog Pudgy was also present in most of the episodes.
