Tywin Lannister (Game Of Thrones)

The richest lord of Westeros

Although this is not the outfit we see him wearing most often in the series, Funko chose to represent him with the armor he wears when he arrives to help King’s Landing facing Stannis’ attack at the end of season 2. This choice is probably due to the fact that it was at the time of the creation of this figurine one of his most memorable scenes. Tywin is one of the richest men in Westeros, so his armor should reflect that. On the figurine, it has been very finely represented with the different elements and ornaments: you can recognize the shape of the chest and the lion heads (the symbol of the Lannisters) on the shoulder pads. Obviously this one is gilded and completed by a long piece of red velvet on the shoulder and across the torso to represent the family colors. By avoiding the traditional cape, it distinguishes him from the others while giving him a little Roman side well in line with the will of power of his family. Finally, as in the series, his hair and beard are white, short and perfectly trimmed. His white eyebrows have not been represented, surely to insist on the coldness of his look and to remind the actor Charles Dance’s big forehead who plays him on the screen.

A family story

Tywin Lannister is one of the important characters of the novels A Song Of Ice And Fire” and of the series “Game Of Thrones”. If he appears several times in season 1 and 2 (a little more often than he should in the books), it is only from the very end of season 2 that he becomes a regular character present in every episode or almost. Tywin Lannister is the lord of Casterly Rock and one of the richest and most powerful in the kingdom. He was one of the main instigators of the rebellion against King Aerys Targaryen and it is thanks to this that his daughter Cersei could become queen by marrying the new king Robert Baratheon. After the death of Robert Baratheon, his son Joffrey became king and appointed his grandfather Tywin as Hand of the King. Leading the war against Robb Stark, he entrusts his son Tyrion with the interim leadership throughout season 2. It is only at the very end of this season, when he comes to the rescue of King’s Landing following Stannis Baratheon’s attack, that he officially takes his place. Tywin Lannister is an intelligent, calculating and very cold man, who has the interests of his family at heart. However, he harbors a fierce hatred for his own son Tyrion, whom he blames for being a dwarf and for having killed his wife by coming out of her womb. He will go so far as to unjustly condemn him to death for the murder of his grandson Joffrey. This will finally turn against him when he escapes from King’s Landing with the help of his brother Jaime and kills him with a crossbow bolt.
