A soft Niffler

This Niffler is a Hot Topic exclusive version of the classic version. This version is flocked, which means that instead of being smooth vinyl, it is covered with a kind of velvet texture that makes it very soft. This little character looking a bit like a mole is represented sitting, his big clawed paws clearly visible. His brown body is almost entirely flocked except where he is naturally hairless, i.e. the head and the pasta. As on the classic version, he holds in his front paws a gold coin and several others are stored in his belly pocket which can contain much more than it looks like.

A cute little thief

The Niffler is a character in the movie Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, set in the Harry Potter universe. He follows the character of Newt Scamander, the English wizard who wrote the guide to the fantastic creatures of the wizarding world. In the early 1920s, Newt travels to New York City to complete the writing of his book. But while he was walking in the city, one of the creatures in his magic suitcase escaped. It is the niffler who, passing in front of a bank, cannot resist the smell of gold. As Newt enters the bank to try to retrieve it, he crosses paths with a nomaj (the American equivalent of a muggle) and in the confusion, they swap cases and more animals escape from Newt’s case.
