The Inventor (Edward aux Mains d’Argent)

The inventor is portrayed here as we see him in the introductory scene of the film. He wears an elegant suit with an old-fashioned style that makes us think that he lived in the 19th century. It is a blue three-piece suit with a gray jacket with double row of buttons and a funny green tie. On the head, we find his wrinkled face, his small gray mustache and his hair combed back with the sides of a lighter gray. Finally, he holds a heart-shaped cookie in his hand.

An elegant look

The Inventor is the man who created Edward Scissorhands, the hero of Tim Burton’s movie of the same name. He was a sort of lonely inventor living in a big gothic mansion outside the city at an undetermined time. He made toys and all sorts of objects and gadgets. But he was lonely and one day decided to create a human-like creature in which he put all his genius and talent. Then one day, while baking heart-shaped cookies, he had the idea to give him a heart to make him completely human. He named him Edward and taught him to speak, to read and all sorts of things about society. Eventually he came to think of him as his son. Unfortunately, he died before he could give him hands and Edward was left alone for years in that big house with scissors for hands. Until Peg, a beauty product demonstrator, showed up at his door and decided to take him home.
