Strong powers
Vanya grew up in a family of children adopted solely for their superpowers by a father who wanted to make them into a group of superheroes, the Umbrella Academy, which gives its name to the series and the comic book it is based on. But unlike her siblings, Vanya grew up without superpowers and distanced herself from them as an adult. But in season one, we realize that she actually has such a devastating power that her father has made her forget about it by using her sister Allison’s power and making her take drugs. In season one, she loses control and is on the verge of destroying the Earth when Number Five manages to bring her siblings back to the 1960s. But they are all separated and Vanya, who has lost her memory, is taken in by a family living on a farm. She becomes their nanny, taking care of their autistic son. But a love affair also develops with the child’s mother and this triggers the anger of the husband who arranges to have Vanya arrested. This will make Vanya lose control again but this time it is Ben, their brother who died many years ago, who will help her. Vanya will finally regain control and use her power against Lila, daughter of The Handler, who had kidnapped Harlow, the son of the woman she was in love with.
