Wonder Woman (Challenge of the Gods)

Between antiquity and the United States

Wonder Woman is represented here as we see her in the Challenge of the Gods comics with a costume reminding both her mythological origins and the colors of the United States. She still wears a Greek-style flapper skirt with a golden bustier representing an eagle and red boots. She also wears a blue cape with red edges and white stars. On her head, she wears a golden winged helmet with a kind of white ponytail over her long black hair. Finally, she holds a spear and a round shield still in the colors of the United States.

Category:

A heroine in the 80’s

Wonder Woman is one of the most famous super heroines created by DC Comics. She is the last of the Amazons created by Zeus to fight the god of war Ares. She is therefore the heroine of many comics covering different periods of the history of this powerful and almost immortal heroine. In the series Challenge of the Gods, we find her in the 80s in the United States still trying to get her message of peace across but with difficulty. Following the series Gods and Mortals, we find the archaeologist Barbara Minerva jealous of Diana Prince’s powers and wishing she too had powers. She will practice a ritual that will transform her into a very aggressive half-cheetah creature that Diana will be forced to kill to defend herself.
