A soft Niffler

This Niffler is a Hot Topic exclusive version of the classic version. This version is flocked, which means that instead of being smooth vinyl, it is covered with a kind of velvet texture that makes it very soft. This little character looking a bit like a mole is represented sitting, his big clawed paws clearly visible. His brown body is almost entirely flocked except where he is naturally hairless, i.e. the head and the pasta. As on the classic version, he holds in his front paws a gold coin and several others are stored in his belly pocket which can contain much more than it looks like.

A majestic creature

When he has the opportunity to grow the occamy is a majestic creature and so Funko has chosen to represent him on this super sized figure exclusively for SDCC 2017. His body with multicolored scales very finely reproduced, is represented a little rolled up on itself with the head well raised. On this one, we can see his beak giving him more the look of a bird as well as these two big golden horns typical of the classic dragons. A little lower on his body are attached two large bird wings in shades of pink and purple.

More than one turn in his suitcase

For this exclusive version of the character, Funko has represented Newt Scamander getting out of the famous suitcase that allows him to access his own little world. It’s a traditional brown suitcase with big seams. Newt is knee-deep in the suitcase and is wearing his usual outfit: gray pants, orange jacket and bow tie and his usual elegant gray coat. On the head, we find his usual haircut with a longer lock on the front.

An already old wizard

Grindelwald is represented here as we have already seen him at the end of the movie Fantastic Beasts. He is wearing an elegant black suit with a white shirt and a green jacket on which he has added a long black coat. He also holds the famous elderberry wand (one of the three deathly hallows) in his right hand. On the head, his hair cut in the fashion of the time is already all white and one of his eyes is also white and potentially blind.

A funny animal attracted to gold

This little magical creature about the size of a large rat looks more or less like a mole with its thick black fur and elongated snout. He was represented sitting to fit the usual dimensions of pop figures. It has pink/orange front and back paws with large claws and a thumb that can be opposed to the front paws which allow him to manipulate objects easily. As we can see, he also has a belly pocket which he uses to hide gold coins whose details are particularly well represented. At the head level, we find big black eyes and this adorable pink muzzle slightly elongated. On almost all the rest of his body, we find this thick black fur whose texture is nicely reproduced, which makes it a very successful figurine.

A rather cute figurine

Despite their theoretically terrifying appearance, this thestral figurine is rather cute. The animal stands on four legs and its skeletal body is clearly visible, including its long tail and spine. His bat wings are folded on the sides of his body. and his large head is very nicely detailed in terms of bone structure and horns.

The demiguise in visible version

Funko has of course chosen to represent the character in its visible version for this figurine. The demiguise has more or less the look of a monkey with his pink face and his hands and feet with opposable thumbs. His white fur gives him the appearance of a gentle yeti and his longer facial hair gives the impression of a long beard, making him look like an old Chinese sage. The look of his fur is very nicely represented and makes this figure one of the most successful for this movie. Note that it also exists in a transparent version in exclusivity.

Newt at work

Newt is represented here with the outfit he wears throughout most of the film, but without his jacket and with the sleeves rolled up as when he goes to work in the kind of animal sanctuary he keeps in his suitcase. Otherwise we find this brown pants a little short as well as this sleeveless jacket ochre color matched with his shoes as well as the small bow tie that he wears in all circumstances. At the level of the head, we find well this so particular haircut and very typical of the 20s. Finally, Newt is accompanied by Pickett, a creature that seems to be half insect and half plant and that has taken a particular liking to Newt, preferring to stay with him rather than with his family. He is shown here larger than his normal size for the purposes of the figure. (He can normally fit in Newt’s jacket pocket).

The author and his work

For this new chase version of the character, Funko has represented him holding a copy of his famous book on fantastic animals. He still wears his elegant gray suit with short pants, brown shoes and a light brown jacket. With this, he wears a bow tie and a long gray jacket. Finally, at the level of the head, we find his brown hair with a long lock in front of the forehead while the other side is cut rather short. The book with its gilding on a brown background is very nicely represented.

A young Dumbledore

Funko has portrayed Dumbledore here in his 1920’s style: an elegant three-piece beige suit with brown shoes. He stands with one hand in his pocket and holding his wand in the other. On the head, we find his thick hair which is brown at this time and his beard is of course much shorter but already well furnished.

A superb creature

Funko has represented the zouwu in a calm posture, sitting on his back legs. His brown coat is very nicely reproduced with lighter hairs at the ends giving his mane the appearance of being on fire. His large mouth is slightly open and leaves four large fangs protruding, adding a boar-like quality to his otherwise rather feline appearance. Finally, we find of course this strange long multicolored tail and its clawed paws reminding them, rather, a kind of bird of prey.

Newt Scamander is still represented here with the same typical look of the 20’s that characterizes him. He wears these shortened pants that let us guess his brown boots as well as a matching jacket and a famous little light brown jacket with his usual bow tie always a little crooked. Over this outfit, he wears a long dark grey jacket and holds his wand with his right hand. At the level of the head, we find his typical haircut of the time with a very short side and a thick lock coming back on the front of the face on the other.
